Why is it free?
Domain Tools provides free tools for no cost to end users in exchange for a minimal amount of cpu utilization.
This is similar to the Seti@home project.
This means that when you run this program, your computer participates in gathering whois records for users of DomainTools.com
The information that is exchanged has nothing to do with the user's habits nor does it contain any personally identifying information.
Do I have to worry about ads?
Domain Tools respects the sanctity of your computer and
we would never allow pops up or annoying unsolicited ads. This is a free tool, Period.
How do I update Project Whois?
Even though Project Whois will prompt you to update automatically, you can also do it yourself.
Just right click the Project Whois icon in your taskbar and check for the 'updates' option in the menu.
Project Whois will check for if you have the correct version and ask your permission to update.
What does associating my clients do?
Client association is intended to be a feature used to monitor your client through Domain Tools.
This feature is intended to allow for even more visiblity of how much you help us. Stats are gathered anonymously right now but
if associate your client to your domaintools account then in the future you will see features appear such as history.
The Project Whois 'stats' system is under construction and is coming very soon in a future update.
The way monitoring works is to simply give you access to a list of the clients you have associated with, on any computer.
You'll be able to tell how much your clients have participated in our the whois gathering project.
