Two programs, one mission.

Foundry is for commercial cybersecurity startups. Grants are for public-interest work: journalism, academic research, NGOs, and non-profit security organizations.

Foundry

For early-stage cybersecurity startups

A program for founders building the next generation of security products with access to the internet intelligence data, technical expertise, and distribution that helps them get to market faster.

Pre-seed to Series A cybersecurity startups working in or adjacent to threat detection, attack surface management, threat intelligence, fraud and abuse prevention, and AI-security tooling.

  2. Initial conversation with the Foundry team to confirm fit.
  3. Review call to align on data access and configuration.
  4. Agreement signed, onboarding scheduled, data access provisioned.

Grants

For journalists, researchers, NGOs & non-profits

Free access to Farsight DNSDB and Iris Investigate for the people doing threat attribution, investigations, and threat intelligence analysis in the public interest.

Journalists, editors, and data journalists at print, broadcast, or online news organizations. Student journalists are encouraged to apply. Academic researchers, NGOs, and non-profit cybersecurity organizations conducting research with a clear methodology and intended publication.

Common Questions

Foundry is for commercial products. If you're building a company you intend to sell to customers, apply to Foundry. If your work is a research project or paper without a commercial product, apply for a Grant.

No, both programs are open to applicants worldwide.

Iris Investigate and Farsight DNSDB, though DomainTools has provisioned other products when appropriate.

Most are issued for an initial 12 months and are often extended if they continue to meet the criteria.

You may, but DomainTools may require partial or full funding of your subscription. Pure-volunteer organizations may qualify for a full grant.
