DomainTools Takes Home GeekWire Bootstrapper of the Year Award

SEATTLE – May 10, 2017 DomainTools, the leader in domain name and DNS-based cyber threat intelligence, received the GeekWire Bootstrapper of the Year Award at the eighth annual GeekWire Awards. This award recognizes Pacific Northwest technology businesses that have ‘pulled themselves up by their bootstraps’ to reach significant growth and profitability without accepting outside funding. Nominated by GeekWire’s panel of judges, DomainTools earned enough votes from the tech community to beat out the three other finalists in this category.

For more than 15 years, DomainTools has been the most popular domain name research service on the internet. In 2013, the company pivoted to an enterprise business model to provide organizations with intuitive threat intelligence solutions powered by the industry’s most robust DNS and domain profile database. Today, about a third of the Fortune 100 use DomainTools products, with 75 percent of company revenue coming from enterprise solutions.

“Bootstrapping is even more difficult when you are trying to sell to the Enterprise because time-to-revenue is longer and go-to-market is more expensive. You can’t do it without an outstanding and committed team,” said Tim Chen, CEO of DomainTools. “This award honors the DomainTools team and their many years of hard work.”

The winners of the GeekWire Awards were announced on May 4, 2017 at the museum of Pop Culture in Seattle.
